MARR - TOWERING ABOVE AT THE SYDNEY FOOTBALL STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: The Men from Marr’s (Marr Contracting Pty Ltd) have finished tower crane construction at the NSW Government’s redevelopment of Sydney Football Stadium in Moore Park.
The Men from Marr’s were awarded the tower crane supply contract after working closely with the Government’s construction partner, John Holland, to develop a robust craneage solution that would support their construction methodology for the project.
Drawing on John Holland’s global experience in constructing stadiums, the redevelopment will see Sydney Football Stadium transformed into a premiere, world-class sporting and entertainment venue with seating capacity for up to 42,500 people.
The Men from Marr’s have a long-standing relationship with John Holland, having worked together on a number of major projects across Australia over the past 50 years including their current involvement on a number of Sydney Metro projects, such as the construction of the new Martin Place and Barangaroo stations.
After working with Marr’s to outline their goals for the project, John Holland’s project team selected a solution – using six cranes including Marr’s M390D, M630D and M860D Heavy Lift Luffing cranes – that best suited their desired construction methodology.
Marr’s involvement commenced in August 2020 and is expected to last 14 months, with the new Sydney Football Stadium expected to be completed in time for the 2022 Rugby League Grand Final.
